| Her twenty-plus years experience as a hairdresser isn’t the first thing Karen Johnson wants you to know about her passion for hair. It is that during the span of her career, her job has become her creative outlet. In order to fine-tune her craft, Karen has trained with award-winning salon professionals, Redken, and Vidal Sassoon, and her excitement to learn about new advances in the industry keeps her attending several educational courses each year. Karen has even been an educator herself, once creating and implementing an apprenticeship program with her peers. She has been a leader in her industry as a salon owner and an educator, but what she still enjoys most is being behind the chair. Karen believes that hair is the first thing that people notice about a woman, and that it reflects what she thinks about herself. Karen is inspired in her work by many things she finds in nature, such as the color patterns in grains of wood, and views each client as a canvas for her art. Her favorite thing about being a hairdresser? The feeling of being in the moment while behind the chair – being at once creative and connected to another human being. |
